More about Teaching
When i was a kid, i always wanted to be a teacher in secondary or primary school or something. It didn’t happen but I’m really looking forward to being a teacher now. I’m excited to share the knowledge I’ve learnt. I’ll just have to work on finding my style and hopefully I’ll find people who will be excited to learn from me as much as i’m excited to teach! Teaching
I was really nervous about teaching, especially teaching people i knew/ invited in a class setting lead by me. A lot of different things were going through my head (which i now know were completely unnecessary); ‘Will they like the class, will i making a fool of myself, is the sequencing ok, will everyone enjoy the class including my fellow ytt mates.’ The list goes on. Anyway, what i’ve learnt from this week, which will definitely apply to everything in life, is this – Do not over think things. Do the best you can, be prepared & then not be affected or consumed by what other people think. Ok well that’s more than one thing but i think it’s something that is very important which is easy to say but to practice, is sometimes tough because it’s human nature to second guess yourself. Its something i want to be mindful of moving forward whether teaching or just to live.
Chakra Can
Learning about chakras has really intrigued me. Googled it and it seems that the first recorded mention of chakras were between 1500-500 BC. And from what we learnt in terms of the placement of the chakras and then the placement of the glands/ organs of the human body, it’s just so cool. How did these ancient people know these things? They didn’t have x-rays or the same technological advancements we have today and yet, everything seems to tally. Will definitely be reading more about this stuff. Thoughts on the Human Body
The human body can be such an amazing thing or should I say is. Sometimes we forget that. And then when you think about it a little more; how the body adapts to changes, the sheer ability to think, how easily people learn new things completely foreign to them, I could go on but I won’t.. Experiencing this first hand has made me think about all the things the body can do. In just a week of YTT, I can feel myself getting stronger, my body is getting used to getting up earlier and slowly, I think i’m even becoming a little more flexible. I’m looking forward to finding out what more my body can do as we work on our asanas. Lesley @lesleyflows YTT200 Aug intake
What Practice Means to Me
I never really practiced yoga, I thought practicing was going to a couple of classes a week at a studio or following an app to practice at home. I now understand what people mean when they say they’re a practitioner; being actively engaged and wanting to be actively engaged in something that brings you joy (well to me at least). Practicing yoga has lit a fire in me and in just 2 weeks, the incremental improvements I see in my own body, the increase in self awareness, the daily acquiring of knowledge and honestly so many other things that can’t be written out so clearly, (I think) has sparked that. I really like this new found meaning of the word “Practice” & I hope it doesn’t change. Fingers crossed! Lesley Instagram: @lesleyflows
