Last week, Jessica went through our alignment issues for the whole class and it was a valuable experience for me to get to know my body in a deeper way. I realized that just doing yoga without an understanding our inherent body types is counter-productive to the practice of yoga. In fact, we could possibly hurt our bodies when we forcibly crank ourselves into the different postures. I guess short of going to a chiropractor or a sports massage therapist, I would probably be never be told if I had kyphosis or lordosis. Having knowledge and self-awareness is the first step towards healing because if you did not know what problems you have, you cannot change them. They say you don\u2019t know what you don\u2019t know and I think taking the YTT made me realize the gaps in my knowledge and the path I needed to take to learn more about yoga anatomy and the types of postures one can do to improve certain body conditions.
